Privacy Policy

Five Gables B&B is a small bed and breakfast in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, run by Anna and Vrat. We collect as little personal information as we can, use it only to answer you and look after your stay, and never sell it. What we collect
- Messages. When you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address and message (plus your browser type) so we can reply.
- Bookings. When you book, we receive your name, email, phone number, dates and number of guests so we can host you. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card number. If you book through Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo, that platform’s privacy policy applies.
- Offers by email. Only if you tick the marketing box when booking, we may occasionally email you news and promo codes. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time.
- Website analytics. We use Google Analytics to see how guests find us. A banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies, and “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page lets you change your mind. In the EU/EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec they stay off unless you accept. We don’t use advertising cookies. Google deletes detailed data after 2 months and user-level data after 14 months.
- Driveway camera. For security, one motion-activated exterior camera records the driveway. There are no indoor cameras. Footage is used only for security and deleted automatically after about 60 days.
Who handles it
We use a few trusted services: Guesty (reservations), Stripe (payments), Resend (contact form email), Google (email and analytics) and Vercel (website hosting). They may store information outside Canada, including in the United States. We share information with authorities only when the law requires it, for example for taxes.
How long we keep it
Messages and booking records only as long as we need them, and tax records for as long as Canadian tax law requires (currently six years). Then we delete them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you (unless we must keep it, for example for tax). Email fivegables@stayinqualicum.ca and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can contact the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia. If this page changes, we’ll update the date at the top.
